This is Bridget’s fourth solo exhibition at The Willoughby Gallery in Castle Bude, Cornwall. Taking inspiration from Cornwall and her home in Somerset, Bridget will showcase her latest paintings, fine art prints, cards and books. With her love of the great outdoors, she explores the beauty of secret and secluded places, from remote beaches to meadows, woodlands and hedgerows. These special places are where she finds captivating and exhilarating subjects to paint throughout all the seasons.

Exhibition at Locking Castle Church, North Somerset

Bridget was delighted to be asked to show three pieces of artwork in a forthcoming exhibition at Locking Castle Church.

They asked for artwork that would fit the title 'Hope' which is a theme that encompasses Easter and the hope of new life. Bridget chose 'In Pastures Green', 'Reach for the Light' and 'Spirit of Spring' as they offer hope in this way either by coming out of Spring or looking towards the light!

It really is nearly two years since the last North Somerset Arts Week! This year it takes place 28th April - 7th May 2017 and Bridget will be exhibiting at her Simshill venue in Wrington.

Open 11am - 5pm each day and packed full of colourful and unique paintings, prints and cards. Pick up a brochure locally or you can download it from the North Somerset Arts website.

I am very excited to announce that Castle Bude in Cornwall have asked me to exhibit my work in their Willoughby Gallery again this year. This time I will be exhibiting for a whole month. My exhibition, 'A Breath of Fresh Air', runs from 30th July to 25th August 2016 . Click below for details.

North Somerset Arts Week is a biennial event which celebrates both the visual and performing arts across North Somerset. Since its inception in 2003 the event has become a significant feature of the cultural landscape of North Somerset.

This year the event will be held from 1 - 10 May 2015. Come and see my work in my beautiful barn venue which will be open on each of these days from 11am to 5pm. I have some wonderful guests joining me this year.

It's that time of year again....how time flies!

This year the popular Made in Wrington winter event will be held on Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd 2014, 11am - 4pm each day.

Come and see my work in my beautiful barn venue. Amy Shiner, another Made in Wrington member, is sharing my venue this year and I also have several guests joining me. 

There will be paintings, prints, sculpture, jewellery, cards and more.....a great chance to buy those unique gifts.

There will also be a pop-up cafe selling cream teas from vintage chinaware.

I am delighted to announce that three of my paintings have been selected to be exhibited in the Clifton Arts Club Annual Open Exhibition. The venue is Bristol School of Art next to the RWA in Bristol and the exhibition runs from 12th - 26th July 2014. Please see the Clifton Arts Club website for more details www.cliftonartsclub.co.uk

If you are in or around Bude it is worth visiting the Seventh Wave Gallery. It is a lovely, spacious and airy space and they only sell local art.

They have kindly asked me to add four of my paintings to their gallery.

Their ethos is to commit to showcasing art of all kinds by Cornish artists (although the tag line on their shop sign says some of the art is from Devon!)

Two of my paintings have been accepted for exhibition at the Shell Seekers Exhibition at Castle Bude, Cornwall.

The exhibition will be held at The Castle, Bude, from Thursday September 11th until Saturday October 4th 2014 (10am-5pm). Created by Budeworks and Seventh Wave Gallery the exhibition celebrates Ms Pilcher’s 90th birthday and 25th anniversary since first publication of The Shell Seekers.

Over 30 artists from across Cornwall are taking part with more than 60 pieces of original artwork for sale.

Why I wanted to exhibit

Inspiration is close at hand in the countryside around me so I am never short of a subject to paint. I am fortunate to have grown up in, and still live amongst, the stunning back-drop of the Somerset countryside. A second home by the sea in Cornwall provides endless additional inspiration. Over the years I have developed a special bond with Cornwall where I spent a lot of my childhood and still spend as much time there as possible.

After reading “The Shell Seekers” I saw similarities between my life and the main character as she lived in Somerset but longed to go back to her family home in Cornwall. She often dreamed of this so I have based my paintings on the following extracts:

Sapphire Seas ~ 'The road ahead curved white & dusty, and in the distance was a sea blue as sapphire'.

Sea Breeze ~ 'She filled her eyes with the blue of the sea and sky, then felt the salty wind; smelt seaweed and damp sand; heard the screaming gulls, the drumming of the breeze in her ears'.

It was wonderful to have yet another very successful Made in Wrington event in November 2013. Thank you to all who visited the 'Made in Wrington Christmas Art Fest' and to everyone who took part.

The 'Pop up Tea Rooms' added a little extra and provided refreshment and a look at the map before the visitors continued along the art trail. I am already looking forward to the next event in 2014.....
